Timothy Ferriss is an American author, public speaker, and productivity guru. In 2007, he published "The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich" which was a bestseller.

Ferriss is known for his application of the Pareto Principle to business and personal life. He has also taken the position that technology such as email, instant messaging and internet-enabled PDA's complicate life rather than simplify it.

Richard Allan Bartle is a British writer and game researcher, best known for being the co-author of MUD, the first multi-user dungeon.

Bartle created MUD (along with Roy Trubshaw) in 1978 at the University of Essex, where he received a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence. He lectured at Essex until 1987, when he left to work full time on MUD. Recently he returned to the university as a part-time professor in the Department of Computing and Electronic Systems, supervising courses on computer game design.

In 2003, he wrote Designing Virtual Worlds, a book about the history, ethics, structure, and technology of massively multiplayer games. Bartle is also a contributing editor to Terra Nova, a collaborative blog that deals with virtual world issues.

Bartle did research on player personality types in massively-multiplayer online games, which he divided into four types: achievers, explorers, socializers and killers. This idea has been adapted into an online test referred to as the Bartle Test.

Yochai Benkler received his LL.B. from Tel-Aviv University in 1991 and J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1994.

He worked at a law firm, clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer, was a professor at New York University School of Law, and visiting professor at Yale Law School and Harvard Law School, before joining the Yale Law School faculty in 2003.

In 2007, Benkler joined Harvard Law School where he is Professor for Entrepreneurial Legal Studies. He is also faculty co-director of Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society.

==Writings==
Yochai Benkler is the author of the paper Coase's Penguin and the book The Wealth of Networks. The Wealth of Networks is published under a Creative Commons license.

==Ideas==
Yochai Benkler coined the term "commons-based peer production" to describe collaborative efforts, such as free and open source software and Wikipedia.

He also uses the term "networked information economy" to describe a system of production, distribution, and consumption of information goods characterized by decentralized individual action carried out through means that do not depend on market strategies. Benkler raises the possibility that a culture where information were shared freely could prove more economically efficient than one where innovation is frequently encumbered by patent or copyright law.

Carr wrote the following:
*IT Doesn't Matter (article, Harvard Business Review, 2003): argued that the strategic importance of information technology in business has diminished as IT has become more commonplace, standardized and cheaper.
*Does IT Matter? Information Technology and the Corrosion of Competitive Advantage (book, 2004)
*The End of Corporate Computing (article, MIT Sloan Management Review, 2004): argued that in the future companies will purchase information technology as a utility service from outside suppliers.
*The Amorality of Web 2.0 (blog essay, 2005): criticized the quality of volunteer Web 2.0 information projects such as Wikipedia and the blogosphere and argued that they may have a net negative effect on society by displacing more expensive professional alternatives.
*The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, From Edison to Google (book, January 2008): examines the economic and social consequences of the rise of Internet-based computing, comparing the consequences to those that occurred with the rise of electric utilities in the early 20th century.
*Is Google Making Us Stupid?: What the Internet is doing to our brains (article, The Atlantic Monthly, July/August 2008): highly critical of the changes the Internet has caused in the way the modernized world thinks (that the Internet possibly has detrimental effects on cognition that diminish our ability to concentrate and do intense reading of texts).

The battle between [[Shel Israel]] and video-blogger [[Loren Feldman]] of 1938media started when Shel began doing video interviews for FastCompany.tv. Loren, who makes corporate videos himself, began criticizing the quality of Shel’s videos mercilessly on Twitter and on his blog, and also started posting parodies of Shel’s videos using Muppet-style hand puppets.

When Loren discovered that Shel hadn’t bothered to register ShelIsrael.com, Loren did so, and filled it with parodies of Shel using the puppets, with some of Shel’s actual videos mixed in. Loren has likewise had fun with Jason Calacanis, Mike Arrington and Robert Scoble - Loren often goes after people he either respects or likes.

Loren finally gave up ShelIsrael.com, which now redirects to Shel's blog.
In this article David Wiley states that the term "weblog" was invented by Jorn Barger in 1999, and gives a link to Barger's original 1999 page (http://www.robotwisdom.com/weblogs), where Barger gives this definition:

:"A weblog is a webpage where a weblogger 'logs' all the other webpages she finds interesting."
